F5 Networks, the global leader in cloud and security application services, announces the acquisition of its rival,
NGINX, Inc., for $670 million.
NGINX is one of the top open-source web servers with Russian roots (founded by Igor Sysoev and Maxim Konovalov), behind only Microsoft and ahead of Google. NGINX powers more than half of the busiest websites in the world, including sites run by Netflix, Starbucks, McDonald's, Dropbox, etc.
F5 and NGINX complement each other. F5 is the industry leader providing world-class application security solutions and a rich application services portfolio. NGINX is the industry leader which has leading software application delivery and API management solutions, unparalleled credibility and brand recognition in the DevOps community.
The combination of F5 and NGINX will follow a multi-cloud transformation trend in the enterprise, and provide a new, end-to-end set of application offerings that can bridge the divide between NetOps and DevOps with consistent application services across an enterprise's multi-cloud environment.
